Whangārei Falls

Whangārei Falls, located in the suburb of Tikipunga in Whangarei, is one of New Zealand’s most accessible and photogenic waterfalls. Plunging 26 meters over a basalt cliff into a serene pool below, the falls are surrounded by native bush and scenic walking trails, offering numerous vantage points from both the top and base. Photographers will find excellent opportunities for long exposure shots, especially after rainfall when the flow is strongest. The walking loop around the falls is easy and well-maintained, making it suitable for all levels of photographers. Early morning or late afternoon provides the best natural lighting and fewer crowds, enhancing the tranquil atmosphere.
