About Yerköprü Waterfall
Yerköprü Waterfall suddenly appears from rock tunnel before spilling over in a curtain of thin white ribbons and dropping into a turquoise pool. Bright green moss hangs off the lip, and the rock behind the falls is dark and hollowed out, so the white water really stands out against it. The falls are easily accessible with a hike along a paved path of switchbacks down into the canyon (since it is steep in sections the hike back up is trickier than the hike in). On your way down you'll cross the river on a suspension bridge strung high between the tan rock walls. Make sure to pause halfway across to capture the full view of the turquoise water winding between the cliffs. The bridge is the perfect spot to use a longer lens to highlight the water and layer the canyon walls on either side. As you continue down the path there is a second footbridge that crosses over the river at water level. Down here the water runs so clear you can see the stones on the bottom. The trail ends with an amazing viewpoint facing the falls. There you can experiment with using a wide lens to take in the whole curtain of water, moss and the pool below. The falls sit in shadow under the overhang while the canyon walls above catch full sun. So you will have to either expose for the white water and let the bright rock go, or come on a cloudy day when everything evens out. Adding a polarizing filter to your kit will let you cut the glare on the pool and deepen the turquoise tones even more. There is a fee to park at the main entrance and there's a small café along the way if you need a rest on the way back up. (Mut, Mersin, Türkiye)
