The Gentoo Penguin Colony at Yorke Bay is one of the most accessible and rewarding wildlife photography locations in the Falkland Islands. Located just northeast of Stanley, this wide arc of white sand beach is home to hundreds of Gentoo penguins that nest in the nearby dunes and forage along the shoreline. Photographers will find ample opportunities to capture natural behavior, including feeding, preening, and waddling along the surf. The gentle curve of the bay, turquoise waters, and rolling grassy hills provide a stunning backdrop that contrasts beautifully with the penguins' black and white plumage. Early morning and late afternoon offer the best light, and the relatively flat terrain makes it easy to explore on foot. Yorke Bay is accessible by guided tour or 4x4 vehicle, and visitors are asked to respect wildlife viewing guidelines to help protect this fragile habitat. (Falkland Islands / Islas Malvinas)
