Zoroastrians Dakhmeh (Tower of Silence)

Ancient raised structure for exposure of the dead, particularly to scavenging birds for the practice of excarnation (removal of flesh and organs, leaving bones). Ancient Zoroastrians believed that burial or cremation contaminated the earth and air.
