Łapalice Castle isn’t actually an ancient castle at all. Construction started in 1979 by artist Piotr Kazimierczak, as his dream studio and luxurious estate including 12 towers representing the 12 apostles. Unfortunately not long into the massive project he not only ran out of funds, but also extended construction for the enormous castle onto land he didn’t actually own. The castle has been sitting empty, falling into disrepair for almost 30 years as he tried to find ways to re-start the project. (Łapalice, Poland)
