Acueducto de Morelia

The Acueducto de Morelia is a 253-arch colonial aqueduct stretching over 1.7 kilometers through the city, built from warm pink cantera stone that glows beautifully in golden hour light. The structure's repetitive arches create natural leading lines, and shooting low from street level along the base lets you compress the perspective and emphasize the rhythm of the arches receding into the distance. The tree-lined Calzada Fray Antonio de San Miguel, which runs parallel, gives you a framed, symmetrical composition that works especially well at dusk when the aqueduct is lit up against a deep blue sky. A wide-angle lens captures the full sweep of the structure, while a mid-range zoom lets you isolate a section of arches with tighter framing. Access is easy on foot and the surrounding streets offer multiple angles to explore. (Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico)
