All Saints Parish Church

All Saints Parish Church is a striking medieval structure dating back to 1596, set among mature trees and an atmospheric graveyard that gives you plenty of compositional material to work with. The weathered stone tower and 1816 spire make for a strong vertical subject; try shooting from the churchyard at a low angle to emphasize the height of the spire against the sky. Early morning or overcast days work best here, as soft diffused light brings out the texture in the aged stonework without harsh shadows. The surrounding gravestones offer excellent foreground interest, and framing the church through the trees adds depth and a sense of history. A wide-angle lens handles the full facade well, while a short telephoto lets you isolate architectural details on the tower. The site is accessible on foot and the grounds are generally open to visitors. (Antrim, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom)
