About Armadale Castle
Armadale Castle was more of a sprawling country house then a formal castle. It was built in the early 1800s as the home to the Clan Donald, Scotland’s largest and most powerful clan. In 1925 the castle was abandoned by the family and left to fall into ruin. The gardens around the castle have been maintained, and are now home to the Clan Donald Centre, which operates the Museum of the Isles. (Armadale, Isle of Skye, Scotland)
