Asbury Park Carousel
The Asbury Park Carousel building is a stunning copper-clad rotunda attached to the 1929 Beaux-Arts Casino complex, designed by the same architects behind Grand Central Terminal. The weathered verdigris copper dome and ornate detailing make it one of the most architecturally rich subjects on the Jersey Shore. Shoot from the boardwalk to capture the full rotunda framed against the sky, or get closer to emphasize the texture and patina of the copper cladding with a mid-range or telephoto lens. Early morning light gives you warm tones on the facade with minimal crowds, while overcast days help bring out the rich green of the oxidized copper without harsh shadows. Golden hour from the beach side can be dramatic, especially if you include reflections in wet sand at low tide. A wide angle works well for including the broader Casino structure alongside the rotunda. (Asbury Park, New Jersey, United States)
