Bailey House
Built in 1833 by American missionaries, this beautifully preserved New England-style coral and stone structure stands as one of Maui's oldest Western buildings, offering a striking contrast against the lush green backdrop of the West Maui Mountains. The textured walls made from coral stone give the exterior a warm, organic quality that photographs beautifully in the soft light of early morning or late afternoon, when shadows bring out the depth of the masonry. Shoot from the garden to frame the facade with tropical foliage, or get close to capture the architectural details of the windows and stonework. A wide to standard zoom in the 24-70mm range works well here. The grounds are compact but well maintained, and the surrounding gardens add color and context to exterior shots. Arrive when the museum opens to avoid foot traffic and get clean compositions. (Wailuku, Maui, Hawaii, United States)
