Basilica Cattedrale di Sant'Agata is dedicated to the virgin and martyr Sant'Agata , patroness of the city of Catania and sits in the historic center of the city.The church was destroyed several timesand rebuilt after the earthquakes that have taken place over time. The first building dates back to the period 1086 - 1094 and was built on the ruins of the Achillian Baths dating back to Roman times. (Catania, Italy)
