Ben Lawers Dam
Ben Lawers Dam is a large buttress dam which contains Lochan na Lairgie and was built just after WWII. Architects designed the dam to blend into and enhance the Highland landscape. The dam sits within the surrounding Ben Lawers National Nature Reserve. Red deer, ptarmigan and black grouse can be seen as well as water vole – one of the UK’s most threatened animals. The area is also internationally important for its rare alpine plants. (Killin, Scotland)
