Biodome
Housed in the striking former Olympic velodrome, the Biodome offers a rare combination of bold 1970s architecture on the outside and five immersive ecosystems within. The curved concrete exterior is worth shooting before you even enter, particularly from a wide angle that captures its sweeping saddle-shaped roofline. Inside, the Tropical Rainforest is the most photogenic zone, with dense canopy, free-roaming birds, and dappled light filtering through the greenery; a wide-to-standard zoom around 24-50mm works well here. The Gulf of St. Lawrence section gives you dramatic underwater viewing panels for close-up aquatic shots. Natural light inside varies by zone, so embrace the moody, low-contrast conditions and shoot with a lens that handles low light well. Crowds are thinner on weekday mornings, giving you cleaner compositions. Tripods are generally not permitted inside, so bump your ISO and stabilize against railings where possible.
