Le Stade Olympique de Montréal
Montreal's Olympic Stadium is one of the most striking pieces of brutalist architecture in North America, dominated by its sweeping inclined tower and the curved concrete bowl that extends beneath it. The structure rewards wide-angle shooting, especially from ground level where you can use the tower's dramatic lean to create diagonal tension across the frame; a 16-35mm lens works particularly well here. Walk the perimeter to find compositions that layer the tower against the curved roofline, or shoot upward from directly beneath the tower's base for a disorienting, abstract perspective. Overcast days actually flatter the raw concrete tones and eliminate harsh shadows that can flatten the texture of the facade. The surrounding esplanade gives you room to pull back for full establishing shots, while getting close to the base reveals the scale and geometric patterns in the structure. Public transit access is straightforward via the Pie-IX metro station. (Montreal, Quebec, Canada)
