Bright Angel Point is a narrow rocky promontory on the Grand Canyon's North Rim, jutting out above two converging canyons with dramatic drop-offs on both sides that make it one of the most immersive viewpoints in the park. The half-mile paved trail from Grand Canyon Lodge winds along an exposed ridge, and the point itself lets you shoot in nearly every direction, with Bright Angel Canyon cutting deep to the east and Transept Canyon opening up to the west. Early morning light rakes across the canyon walls and brings out the rich reds and oranges of the layered rock, while late afternoon creates long shadows that emphasize the depth and scale. A wide-angle lens works well for capturing the full sweep of the surrounding geology, but a telephoto lets you isolate distant buttes and temples. The trail has some narrow sections with modest exposure, so wear solid footwear and go early to avoid crowds. (Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona, United States)
