Brockville Marina

Brockville Marina sits along the St. Lawrence River in one of eastern Ontario's most photogenic small-city waterfronts, where recreational boats, tall ships, and the occasional freighter pass through against a backdrop of open water and historic shoreline. The marina boardwalk gives you a natural leading line to work with, and shooting low along the docks brings in strong foreground interest from the hulls and rigging of docked vessels. Golden hour light, both morning and evening, reflects beautifully off the calm river and boat surfaces, while overcast days soften the contrast and bring out the rich colours of painted hulls. A wide-angle lens works well for capturing the full sweep of the harbour, while a longer focal length lets you isolate passing vessels against the water. If you can time your visit for the Tall Ships festival in late June or early July, you will have exceptional material with towering masts and historic rigging filling the frame.
