Cape Roger Curtis Light
Cape Roger Curtis Light sits at the southwestern tip of Bowen Island, a compact white lighthouse perched above a rocky shoreline with open views across Howe Sound toward the Strait of Georgia. The lighthouse itself is small and charming, and works best when you incorporate the surrounding rocks, driftwood, and receding tidepools into your foreground to give the scene depth and scale. Sunset is the prime time to shoot here, with warm light falling directly on the lighthouse face and the sky often turning vivid shades of orange and pink behind the peaks across the sound. Getting here requires a short ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay to Bowen Island, followed by a drive and a walk down a trail to the water's edge; wear sturdy shoes as the rocky shoreline can be uneven. A wide angle lens works well for capturing the lighthouse in context with the landscape around it. (Bowen Island, British Columbia, Canada)
