Casino de Montréal
Casino de Montréal occupies the former French Pavilion from Expo 67, and the building's bold geometric lines and layered facades make it one of the more distinctive architectural subjects in the city. The woven metal exterior catches light in interesting ways, but the real payoff comes after dark when the LED lighting system transforms the facade into something far more dramatic and graphic. Shoot from across the pedestrian plaza to capture the full scale of the structure, or move in close to isolate the metal lattice patterns with a longer focal length. A wide angle works well for showing the building in context with the St. Lawrence River nearby. Weeknights tend to have fewer crowds than weekends, giving you cleaner foreground options. Bring a tripod for the night shots since longer exposures will bring out the lighting at its best. (Montreal, Quebec, Canada)
