The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels is a striking piece of contemporary religious architecture in downtown Los Angeles, designed by Rafael Moneo with angular concrete forms, alabaster windows, and a deliberately asymmetrical facade that rewards close attention. The building's warm, textured concrete exterior catches light beautifully, especially in the late afternoon when the sun rakes across the surface and brings out depth and shadow in the geometric planes. Shoot from the long processional walkway leading to the main entrance to use it as a strong leading line, or step back to capture the full facade with a wide angle lens in the 16 to 24mm range. Inside, the alabaster side windows diffuse natural light into a soft golden glow that works well for interior shots, particularly on bright midday visits when direct sunlight filters through. Street parking and the nearby garage make access straightforward. (Los Angeles, California, United States)
