Cedar Beach Conservation Area is a peaceful strip of sand on the Lake Erie shore where Cedar Creek empties into the lake. A marina sits next door, so there's a channel and a steady trickle of boats moving through all day long. The shore faces south, which means the light follows along the sand rather than over the water. Early and late light will give the sand texture. The view looking out over Lake Erie feels endless and creates peaceful feeling compositions. The creek mouth is a unique addition to you shooting options since it almost always has boats coming through the channel and anglers dotting the edges. Lake Erie is shallow and it builds fast in a wind, so a blowy afternoon gives you amazing waves to experiment with. If you are interested in bird photography, herons and egrets feed in the creek, and bald eagles sometimes turn up from the wetland upstream. The Essex Region Conservation Authority runs the park and beach with the Town of Kingsville. This is an ideal stop to add on to a Point Pelee trip. (Kingsville, Ontario, Canada)
