Central Railroad of New Jersey Terminal
This historic Beaux-Arts terminal sits on the Jersey City waterfront with one of the most dramatic views of the Lower Manhattan skyline you can find from New Jersey. The building itself is worth shooting up close, with its ornate facade and the long iron-and-glass train shed stretching behind it offering strong architectural lines and a moody, industrial atmosphere. Position yourself inside the shed to use the repeating structural arches as a leading line or frame, and experiment with wide angles to capture the full sweep of the space. Outside on the waterfront promenade, a 24-70mm or wider lens works well for pairing the terminal with the skyline across the Hudson. Golden hour and blue hour are both excellent here, with the city lights reflecting on the water after sunset. The site is accessible via ferry from Manhattan or by light rail, and the grounds are open to the public as part of Liberty State Park. (Jersey City, New Jersey, United States)
