Playas del Coco offers photographers a vibrant mix of coastal life and natural beauty, from colorful fishing boats bobbing in the calm bay to fiery Pacific sunsets that reflect off the water. Its lively shoreline and soft evening light make it an ideal spot for capturing both dynamic street scenes and serene seascapes in one location. The beach stretches out around a wide horseshoe bay, with green hillsides and low cliffs wrapping around both sides. That natural framing does a lot of the work for you. The dark volcanic sand against the blue water and green hills gives you a solid colour palette no matter which way you shoot. Sunset is where this spot really delivers. The bay faces west so the light drops right into the centre of the scene, plus evenings with scattered cloud get really fun as the colours shift fast and keep changing. Show up early and stick around through blue hour. One thing worth planning around is the season. During green season (May through November) the surrounding hills are lush and vivid, but the dry months can leave them looking brown and dusty. If that green backdrop matters to your shot, time your visit accordingly. The beach is easy to reach right from the centre of town, with a boardwalk running along part of the shore.
