Daniel Carter Beard Bridge
Spanning the Ohio River between Cincinnati and Newport, this bold yellow steel arch bridge is one of the most recognizable structures on the river, and its twin bowstring arches make for a striking graphic subject against the sky. You can shoot it from the riverbanks on either side, but the Cincinnati waterfront and Smale Riverfront Park give you the most flexibility, letting you frame the bridge with the river in the foreground and downtown skyline in the background. Try a wide angle to capture both arches together, or compress the scene with a telephoto from further along the bank. Golden hour and blue hour both work well here, with the yellow steel picking up warm tones at sunset and the bridge lights reflecting off the water after dark. Parking is available near the Cincinnati riverfront, and the flat walking paths make it easy to find your ideal angle. (Cincinnati, Ohio, United States)
