Sacred Heart Church
Sacred Heart Church is a stunning example of Bavarian Gothic Revival architecture tucked into the Bellevue neighborhood just across the river from Cincinnati, offering rich detail that rewards patient photographers. The handcarved German altars, ogee arches, elaborate niches, and intricate bar tracery give you endless material for both wide compositions and tight detail shots. Inside, look for symmetrical nave shots down the central aisle using a wide angle lens, around 16 to 24mm, to capture the full depth of the space and draw the eye toward the altar. A standard or short telephoto lens works well for isolating carved details in the finials and architraves. Midday light can be flat outside, so visit on an overcast day for even interior exposure, or time your visit when light streams through the windows. Call ahead or check mass schedules to confirm the church is open for visitors before making the trip. (Bellevue, Kentucky, United States)
