Drenkelingenhuisje
The Drenkelingenhuisje, or “drowning victims' hut,” is a weathered wooden shelter perched on stilts along the windswept northern coast of Terschelling, facing the open North Sea. Once used as a refuge for shipwreck survivors, the hut now stands as a stark and solitary landmark amid the vast beach and dune landscape. Its isolation and simple form make it a striking subject for minimalist, long-exposure, and moody seascape photography. The surrounding flat sands and expansive skies offer endless compositional possibilities, particularly at sunset or during stormy weather. Best accessed by foot or bike from Oosterend, the hut is located along the shoreline and is reachable during low tide conditions. (Oosterend, Friesland, Netherlands)
