Tucked into a narrow courtyard between Haussmann-era apartment buildings near Pigalle, this small basketball court has become one of Paris's most visually striking urban spaces, covered in bold geometric patterns, rotating murals, and graphic design interventions that make every surface a potential backdrop. The tight walls and compressed space work in your favor: shoot from one end of the court to get strong leading lines converging toward the far wall, or get low and use a wide angle lens to emphasize the graphic floor patterns alongside a subject. A 24-35mm lens is ideal for capturing the full environment without distortion. Overcast days are actually preferable here since the courtyard sits in shade for much of the day and harsh direct sunlight creates unflattering contrast on the painted surfaces. Access is open and free, though the space is small, so arriving early on weekdays keeps crowds minimal. (Paris, Île-de-France, France)
