The Eastern Columbia Building is one of the finest Art Deco structures in Los Angeles, wrapped in striking turquoise glazed terracotta with gold chevron detailing that catches light beautifully at almost any hour. Stand across Broadway or angle from the corner of 9th Street to capture the full facade and iconic clock tower in a single frame; a wide angle lens in the 16-35mm range works well for the full building, while a longer focal length lets you isolate the geometric ornamental details higher up. Golden hour and the blue hour just after sunset are both excellent, as the building's teal exterior glows warmly and the illuminated clock tower stands out against a darkening sky.
