About Eemshaven Piers

The Eemshaven Piers are a pair of curved breakwaters marking the entrance to the port of Eemshaven. Their sweeping shapes create strong graphic lines set against open water and wide skies. Wind turbines, passing ships, and changing sea conditions add scale and interest, making this a great location for minimalist and industrial landscape photography. Light works especially well here early or late in the day, when reflections and soft color tones simplify the scene. Access is on foot from the harbor area, but the piers are exposed, so wind and weather should be taken into account. (Eemshaven, Groningen, Netherlands)
