Elfin Lakes
Elfin Lakes, located in Garibaldi Provincial Park near Squamish, British Columbia, is a pair of crystal-clear alpine lakes set against a backdrop of sweeping mountain vistas and subalpine meadows. The larger of the two lakes reflects the surrounding peaks, including Mount Garibaldi, creating striking compositions for landscape photographers, especially during sunrise and sunset. Accessible via an 11 kilometer hike from the Diamond Head trailhead, the route winds through dense forest, alpine ridges, and open meadows filled with wildflowers in late summer. In winter, the trail becomes a popular route for snowshoeing and backcountry skiing, offering dramatically different photo opportunities. A nearby hut and designated campsites make it possible to stay overnight and capture changing light throughout the day. Elfin Lakes is a rewarding destination for photographers seeking dramatic natural beauty in British Columbia’s alpine wilderness. (Squamish-Lillooet, British Columbia, Canada)
