Fällforsen is a waterfall on the Pite River that sits just off of road 374 between Älvsbyn and Storforsen in Norrbotten. The falls drop about 11 metres and put on a really nice show, especially when the water is running strong. It is a much smaller and quieter spot than nearby Storforsen, but that is part of the appeal. You can get close to the falls and shoot without having to wind your way through a crowd so the setting feels more personal. The river here has carved and smoothed the rock over thousands of years, so there is plenty of texture and detail to work with in tighter compositions. On the south side of the falls there is a salmon ladder, and if your timing is right you might catch salmon making their way upstream, which is a unique thing to witness and photograph. The area has picnic spots and fire pits along the river banks. Most people pass through here quickly on their way to Storforsen, but it is worth slowing down and spending some time exploring. If you are already in the area visiting Storforsen, this is an easy and worthwhile addition. (Övre Tväråsel, Norrbottens län, Sweden)
