Farol de Belém is a distinctive red brick tower located along the Tagus River in Lisbon’s historic Belém district, just steps from the Torre de Belém. Though it was built to resemble a lighthouse, it was actually built in 1940 for the Portuguese World Exhibition and was never used for maritime navigation. Its spiraling bands of brick and concrete create a bold and textured vertical subject, standing out against the riverside sky and making it ideal for architectural and urban photography. The surrounding promenade offers sweeping river views and compositions that incorporate nearby monuments. Easily accessible by tram or foot, this unique structure adds a touch of maritime symbolism to Lisbon’s cultural waterfront. (Lisbon, Lisbon District, Portugal)
