Glaciar Los Perros is a remote and dramatic glacier descending from the Paine Massif into the turquoise waters of Laguna Los Perros, visited only by those completing the full O Circuit trek through Torres del Paine. The glacier face reflects beautifully in the lake when conditions are calm, and the surrounding landscape of jagged peaks, ice, and dense Patagonian forest gives you rich layering for compositions. Try shooting from the shoreline using the lake as a foreground element, or work the treeline into the frame to add scale and depth to the glacier wall. Overcast light is actually favorable here, softening harsh shadows on the ice and bringing out its blue tones. A mid-range zoom in the 24-70mm range handles most situations well. Come prepared for rapidly changing Patagonian weather and allow time to explore different vantage points along the trail. (Torres del Paine National Park, Chile)
