Grain Battery Tower
Grain Battery Tower is a mid-19th-century gun tower standing just offshore in the mouth of the River Medway. There are 3 stages of development, the original 1855 granite fort (which has survived best), a WW1 extension to the top and a WW2 block beside. Be sure to check tide times before you go if you want to be able to walk out to the tower, and watch the tide levels while you are exploring the tower to ensure you can safely make it back to shore.
