Hale Lighthouse
The first lighthouse here was a wooden construction, made around 1838. The present lighthouse was completed in 1907. It is 60 feet high and had a light of 500 candle power. No longer in use, the lenses are at The Maritime Museum in Liverpool whilst the lighthouse itself is now privately owned. The Hale Lighthouse Walk starts in the village of Hale where you can follow footpaths down to the River Mersey. Here you'll find the lighthouse which sits on a sandstone cliff overlooking the beaches and saltmarsh of the river. (Hale, England)
