Harder Kulm is a mountain viewpoint perched above Interlaken at 1,322 meters, offering one of the most dramatic panoramas in the Swiss Alps, with Lakes Thun and Brienz stretching out in opposite directions and the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau dominating the horizon. The famous two-lake viewpoint is the main draw, and a wide-angle lens in the 16-24mm range lets you capture both lakes in a single frame with the mountain peaks rising behind the town. Early morning is ideal, when mist often sits in the valley below and the peaks catch warm alpenglow before the crowds arrive. The funicular runs regularly from central Interlaken and takes about ten minutes, making access straightforward. Position yourself on the observation deck and work the railing as a foreground element, or step back to include the iconic wooden viewing platform structure itself in your composition.
