About Wengen Aussichtspunkt

Wengen Aussichtspunkt is a small lookout tucked in beside the village church in Wengen. This lookout gives you an amazing view looking out over the entire village, plus the Lauterbrunnen village sits below you and Staubbach Falls drops off the cliff face on the far side all backed by rugged peaks in every direction. There are endless compositions to experiment with here. You can wide to capture the full valley, then switch to something longer and pick out the switchback path climbing to the falls, or the little church down on the valley floor. During the early morning light the sun sits behind you and lights the far cliffs, and by late afternoon the valley floor has gone into shade. The Staubbach Falls run hardest through late spring and early summer. Wengen has no car access, so you'll have to park in Lauterbrunnen and take the cogwheel train up, then walk down the main street to the church. There's a fare for the train, but the lookout itself is free and open all hours so it works for both sunrise and sunset photography depending on which one fits your style best.
