House of the Blackheads is a historic building in Riga’s Town Hall Square. Originally built in the 14th century for the Brotherhood of the Blackheads, a guild of unmarried merchants, it was heavily damaged during World War II and later reconstructed to match its original design. The building’s exterior is covered in statues, carvings, and decorative touches. Its symmetrical design and bold red tones make it quite photogenic, whether you are shooting straight on or from the edges of the square. The open space in front allows for clean compositions, especially early in the day or in the evening when the light is softer and crowds are thinner. (Riga, Latvia)
