Isoisänsilta is a striking pedestrian and cycling bridge in Helsinki, best known for its twin white arches that rise dramatically above the waterway connecting Kalasatama to the island of Mustikkamaa. The arches are the main draw photographically, and you can frame them from below on the bridge deck using a wide angle lens to emphasize their height and symmetry, or step back toward either shoreline to capture the full span reflected in the calm water. Golden hour and sunset light the white steel with warm tones that contrast beautifully against the sky, and on still evenings the reflection in the channel below doubles the visual impact. Blue hour is also worth trying, when the arch lighting activates and the cityscape behind glows softly. The bridge is easily accessible by tram or on foot from Kalasatama, and the low railings keep sightlines clean for shooting. (Helsinki, Uusimaa, Finland)
