About Kruunuvuorensilta
Kruunuvuorensilta is a soaring cable-stayed bridge stretching out across the bay just east of central Helsinki. It is the longest pedestrian bridge in Finland. The whole thing hangs off one concrete tower shaped like a diamond, and it's tall enough that you can spot it from halfway across the city. When you walk out along the deck the cables close in around you creating amazing leading lines in almost every direction. You can easily set up to shoot straight down the line and let them pull your eye right to the tower. You can also shoot it as a whole from the bank at either side, highlighting the size of the whole span. The city sits off to the west so you have amazing cityscape views, especially at sunset. After dark is also quite photogenic as the lights of both the bridge and surrounding city come on. The lighting changes colour throughout the seasons, and a Helsinki winter gives you a blue hour that lasts for hours rather than minutes. This is a fun location to re-visit numerous times to experiment with different light conditions and seasons to capture the view as it changes. (Helsinki, Uusimaa, Finland)
