Located on the opposite side of the bay to Charles Fort, James Fort has a commanding position guarding the small harbour of Kinsale. This fort was built in 1607 and was captured in 1690 by Williamite forces. The fort remains a most interesting example of 17th century military architecture and offers wonderful views of the town, river, harbour and Charles Fort. (Kinsale, County Cork, Ireland)
