Karamatura Falls

Karamatura Falls is a peaceful cascade tucked into the bush near the village of Huia, west of Auckland. The waterfall drops gracefully into a shaded pool, framed by dense native forest and moss-covered rocks that create a tranquil setting ideal for long exposure and nature photography. A well-formed track through the Karamatura Valley leads to the falls in about 30 minutes, passing streams and forest scenery along the way. The site is especially photogenic after rainfall when the flow is stronger and the surrounding vegetation is vibrant.
