At the peak of productivity in the mid nineteenth century Kennall Vale gunpowder works were producing 4-5 thousand barrels of quality gunpowder a year. As dynamite grew in preference the demand for gunpowder declined until the factory was forced to close in 1910. (Ponsanooth, England)
