South Wheal Frances Mine is a former mine accessing the copper and tin of the Great Flat Lode. The mine was most profitable in the 1850s, when the copper trade was booming in Cornwall. As the copper ore was exhausted during the 1860s, it was replaced by tin. The mine was completely abandoned in the 1920s and has been falling into disrepair ever since. This area is dotted with old mining buildings and tools. (Redruth, England)
