Built in 1650 under Shah Abbas II, Khaju Bridge spans the Zayandeh River with 23 ornate arches and functions as both a bridge and a dam, giving it a layered, symmetrical structure that rewards careful composition. The water level beneath the bridge changes depending on the dam gates, so check conditions before visiting since a full river reflects the arches beautifully while a dry or low riverbed reveals the lower tier of pavilions and walkways in a different way. Shoot from the riverbank at water level to capture the arch reflections stretching toward you, or walk down beneath the bridge to photograph the tiled interior and vaulted ceilings. Blue hour and night are exceptional here as warm amber lighting illuminates every arch and detail against a deep sky. A wide angle lens works well for full bridge shots from the bank, while a short telephoto lets you isolate individual arches. (Isfahan, Isfahan Province, Iran)
