Lammerside Castle Ruins
Lammerside Castle is a 12th century building which was rebuilt and strengthened in the 14th century to provide protection against raiders. The castle was occupied by a branch of the Wharton family, but is thought to have been abandoned in 17th century when the family moved to the fortified manor house, Wharton Hall.
