Ølberg Beach is a quiet sandy cove on the Jæren coastline south of Stavanger, where a small freshwater stream cuts directly across the beach before meeting the sea, giving you a natural leading line that most beaches simply do not have. Use the stream as a foreground element to draw the eye toward the water and the open horizon beyond, or get low and wide to include both the stream and the dramatic sky above. The rocky outcroppings framing either side of the cove add texture and depth to wider compositions. This stretch of coast faces west, making it one of the better sunset locations in the region, with long golden light skimming across the wet sand and stream channels at low tide. A wide angle lens works well here; arrive around low tide for the most reflective surfaces and the clearest view of the stream's path across the beach. Parking is available nearby and the walk to the shore is short. (Ølberg, Rogaland, Norway)
