Letter Windmühle is a historic octagonal Dutch-type windmill from 1813, with a gallery running around the first floor. The windmill is currently under the care of a local association and has become a landmark of the village. It sits photogenically with farmland on almost every side that gives you many compositions options depending on your shooting style. You can set it clean against a clear blue sky, get in low under the gallery, or step back for the whole tower and sails. Low sun works best out here, so come early or late in the day for long light or a silhouette. The flat horizon keeps the background simple and lets the windmill be the centrepiece. It sits on private grounds run by the mill association, but there is plenty of space to shoot to the exterior from the surrounding paths and roads. The inside opens on special days, like the German Mill Day, so if you are lucky you might be able to see it at work and photography the interior. The tower has been under restoration recently, so check it's whole and the sails are up before you make the trip. (Coesfeld, Germany)
