About Loch Linnhe Shoreline
Bunree sits on the shore of Loch Linnhe, between Onich and the Corran Narrows in Lochaber. The loch is wide here, and the hills of Ardgour filling the far side. The view across the water from the shoreline creates a perfect contrast of still water and rugged hillside. Shooting low from the water line lets the loch stretch out flat until it hits the hills. Still mornings create the perfect time to experiment with adding reflections to your composition. The sun goes down behind the Ardgour side, so evening light works beautifully from here. Weather moves through fast and the same view changes hour to hour. Clouds appearing to sit low on the hills opposite is worth waiting for. If you are lucky Otters often appear on this shoreline, and there are usually seals and divers on the water. The Corran ferry crosses the narrows a short walk north, and the slipway makes a great second subject while you are in the area anyway. That crossing puts movement against still water. A caravan club site sits along the shore frontage itself, making public parking limited, so the walk in from Corran is the most reliable way. (Onich, Highland, Scotland)
