About Manzanar National Historic Site
In 1942, the United States government ordered more than 110,000 men, women, and children to leave their homes and detained them in several remote concentration camps in California. Manzanar is the best preserved of them and home to an interpretive education centre. Located at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains the remains of the camp and the monument make for a beautiful photo spot. It also serves as an important reminder and place to reflect on the shameful treatment of Japanese-Americans during World War II. (Manzanar, California, USA)
