McAfee Knob
One of the most photographed spots along the Appalachian trail, the McAfee Knob has a stunning 270-degree view of the surrounding mountains. To get to the McAfee Knob, parking can be found near the trailhead along Catawba Vallery Road just east of Catawba village. Once you park you will find the trailhead on the opposite side of the road from the parking lot. If you choose to go out on the knob, it goes without saying that you exercise care when doing so because gravity can kill. (Troutville, Virginia, USA)
